Sent
What did Jesus mean when he said that he sent his disciples into the world in John 17? There are many ideas about what this means. For some this means that we are to do works of justice, for others it means to be a missionary in a foreign land, and some believe it looks like preaching Jesus on the streets. The idea of what it means to be sent has countless definitions. There is much confusion around what it means to be a sent Christian.
In this series we are seeking to help you see what it looks like to be a sent person. We will do this by examining John 17:18 which says, “As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” Jesus’ relationship to the Father as the sender shows us the pattern for our relationship to Jesus as our sender. We are not seeking to tout one method over another but instead provide a simple biblical understanding of what it means to be a Christian that is sent to proclaim the gospel and make disciples.
