What does it mean to follow God faithfully in the world? This is the question that James, the brother of Jesus, tackles in his letter to a scattered church. Whereas in other New Testament letters there is a major emphasis on the accomplished nature of salvation in Jesus Christ, James teases out some practical and ethical implications of that salvation. Studying James gives us the opportunity to examine if we practice what we preach. And as long as we start with the grace and gospel of God, that examination will produce fruitfulness in our lives.
